Sergent Pepperoni's

Most of my review so far have been excellent. But, once in awhile I do make a bad choice for a meal. One of those was Sergent Pepperoni's. I ordered a medium Mediterranean to go and picked it up and unfortunately did not look at it before leaving. It was burned and black on top! Apparently that may be a thing for them because I've noticed some of their pictures on their website they look that way. I guess if I ever wanted to eat their again I would ask for no extra crispiness.

The pizza was pretty good in flavor and I did like their thick crust, but the burned charred taste was just too strong. The Mediterranean included: Spinach, House marinated Black Olives, Garlic, Onion, Sundried Tomatoes, Feta Cheese.

I will say a co-worker had a pizza from their a few weeks ago and it wasn't as crispy but still pushing the levels of doneness for the toppings. She had an order of Focaccia bread that looked good and unburned but I did not try it. It was very thick and topped with at least an inch of cheese.

Alas I cannot recommend them and I will leave off their website for said reasons.

Surin of Thailand

A great Sushi and Thai restaurant in Knoxville is Surin of Thailand. The nights to go for a super deal are Sun-Thur 5pm to close. It is half price sushi night and you can score a killer deal on a night out. This special is a staple for them so if you go it should always be available.

We have tried a little bit of everything on their menu. The Surin baskets and are flavorful. They are shrimp and chicken based filled with spices, cilantro, and corn in a pastry. Also the crab angels are pretty good too but I would pick the Surin baskets over the crab.

For sushi I don't think you can go wrong with anything they serve. Some our favorites are: Super Crunch, Double Shrimp, Rainbow, Tokyo Roll, and Kaboom Maki just to name a few.

As far as entrees I've only a had a few but some good ones to start with that aren't very spice are:Chicken Masaman with Avocado, Thai Noodle, and Massaman Beef.

They don't have their half price sushi menu on their site, so I guess that means you should pay them a visit to try it out!

Creamery Park Grille

BUT if you are looking for the hidden gem in Fountain City then look no further than right up the street from Littons. The Creamery Park Grille offers a fantastic selection on their menu. The wide variety varies from soups, salads, burger, and sandwiches. To gourmet meals featuring crab cakes and shrimp and grits. They also have a soda fountain and offer ice cream.

When we ate their we decided to try them because Litton's was over an hour wait for seating. Of course since we didn't get to eat a Litton's burger I had to try theirs. I must say I did prefer their burger over Litton's. It was juicy and perfectly cooked to my specifications. I also had a salad which was fresh and crisp. To finish off the meal I had Chocolate Raspberry Truffle ice cream. It was delicious and flavorful!

If you happen to be in Fountain City stop by for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch. You won't regret it!

Littons Market

Littons Market is a very unique restaurant in Fountain City/Knoxville, TN. When it was opened in 1946 it was a grocery, hardware store, and gas station. In the 1980's they became known for their meat counter and they started taking orders for meals. Today they offer a wide variety of  menu options and even have wonderful desserts and is only a restaurant.

The two times I have eaten their have been on a Friday night when its standing room only for a table. I would suggest trying a less busier time to see if your wait is less. Both times I have been their I have had a hamburger and fries.  The food is very fresh since the meat is made daily. They offer several types of hamburger and both the fries and onion rings are crisp and hot when served. They also offer salads, sandwiches, and chicken and steaks. The desserts offered are cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, and a little bit of extras if they have them available.

Hard Knox Pizzeria

Another great pizza place is located in the Bearden Area just off of Kingston Pike. My husband and I finally decided to visit this great restaurant a month ago and were amazed at how tasty their version of wood fired pizza is compared to other offerings in town. The restaurant is small but has great decor and inviting tables with great decorations and bar stool type seating. You order at a counter when you walk in and then have a seat and they bring you your made to order pizza. Their menu offers red and white pizza versions and also calzones, salads, and flatbread melts. We decided to try the meathead which included mini meatballs and fresh ricotta with a redsauce and olive oil base. The pizza tasted fresh and simple and very filling. We shared just one pizza and still had a piece each to take home.

BUT!!!

The thing I feel everyone must try if you love desserts is their Archie S'more pizza. It will blow your mind!!!!! (not resposible for sugar comas if you can't handle the amazingness of this dessert) The s'more pizza is a crust with Nutella, marshmellow spread and graham cracker toppings baked in the wood brick oven and then brought to your table in all of its glory. I hope as soon as you read this you go out and try one!

Chaiyo's Thai and Sushi Restaurant

Chaiyo's restaurant is the hidden sushi and thai restaurant of Knoxville. Located near UT campus on James Agee Street is the best sushi and thai food ever!!! Did I say ever?!! I first visited this restaurant on a whim from reviews on Urbanspoon while driving around with my husband. We didn't want to drive to West Knoxville for savory sushi so we decided to try Chaiyo's and we've been hooked since then. The restaurant is small and quaint but don't let that fool you because the food is flavorful and can pack a spicy punch that will clear your sinuses for weeks. When you are seated you will notice a wall of photos with stars located on the kitchen outer wall. You can order your food from 0 to 5 stars for novice spicy food eaters. Or, you can take the challenge and add even more spice, some risking their taste buds to 100 stars! We on the other hand stick to 1 to 2 stars on the spicy rating and still love how the food taste. Our favorites are pad thai with beef and from the sushi menu a james roll (the only sushi roll you will compare others too) and a super crunch roll. The James roll is shrimp tempura, avocado, and spice crab with tempura flakes on the outside of the roll. The super crunch is a deep fried roll. It has Eel, salmon, crab, scallion, smelt roe, and cream cheese. And you can't forget to start your meal with the crab wonton. They have a sweet taste which will melt in your mouth and make you visit this restaurant again and again.

I Love Ny Pizza

I love NY Pizza is a restaurant located in South Knoxville that serves great pizza and other italian favorites. If you are looking for a cool restaurant to visit and enjoy a great pie this is the place to go. When we first visited the restaurant we went on a Tuesday night and it was still kind of busy. They have decorated the walls in posters and cool graffiti art. We tried the baked chicken wings which were rich in flavor and not too spice. Also, we tried the garlic knots appetizer which was a great garlic butter roll and served with house marinara sauce. For the pizza we shared a small Meatza which was plenty of food with both appetizers for a couple to share. We both took home a slice of pizza for flavor. They do not scrimp on toppings here! The meats included were: ham, bacon, meatball, pepperoni, and sausage.

Their menu includes other great favorites such as: Calzones, Stromboli, Lasagna, pasta dishes, and delectable salads. They also have lunch specials which feature pizza by the slice.

If you love pizza you must visit I love NY pizza now! Don't wait!!

Update 7/2/14 I love NY pizza is now located near the Farragut area of Knoxville. So sad to see them leave South Knoxville.
